「Tokyo Environment Operating Manual 2018」
-Re-writing of Buckminster Fuller's 'Operating Manual for Space ship Earth'-
Buckminster Fuller was an engineer and a thinker in U.S.A. He published a book 'Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth 'in 1968 as the culmination of his things and he aimed to the finite resources of the whole earth. In this book, he also declared his ideal philosophy 'the view from the ocean' to think about the valance on the land. The conception of 'whole Earth' included not only materials and topology but also human politics. He thought such kind of nature and human beings' attitude were also parts of whole Earth. It was the larger philosophy than the 'environment' which is called in nowadays.
Now, we are living in Tokyo in 2018, his warning has been more deepen one. However, all of elements surrounding us has also been changing now. We already know the limit of oil and any other fuels and the political valance after W.W. II. were changed. The future technology in 1968 like AI , internet and so on were also realized and we use electrical money to create virtual economy. The religious oppositions have been still remained, but these are not the simple binary confrontation any more.
Therefore, we want ask you to think how to rewrite Buckminster Fuller's operating manual to continue we can live in this earth as a part of 'whole Earth'. Indeed, you can those the exact site in Tokyo depending on your thinking against this task and create the new design for that objection.
Buckminster Fuller also advocated geodesic dome, dymaxion map with car and house with self-energy systems. You may need to refine this kind of his idea too.
